The annual New Year’s Dive at beach pavilion De Zeemeeuw in Retranchement, near Cadzand-Bad, is a festive tradition you don’t want to miss! On 1 January, dozens of brave swimmers gather to take a refreshing dip in the North Sea at exactly 12:00, ringing in the new year together.

What can you expect?

Location: The dive takes place at the beautiful Zwin Beach near Cadzand-Bad, with beach pavilion De Zeemeeuw as the central hub of the festivities.
New Year’s Day 2026 Programme:
- 12:00: Start of the New Year’s Dive. Make sure to gather on the beach in time!
- After the dive: Warm up with a delicious cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine at Beach Pavilion De Zeemeeuw and enjoy the cosy atmosphere.
Tips for participants:
- Wear warm, dry clothing to warm up quickly after the dive.
- Bring a towel and possibly a bathrobe for extra comfort.
- Arrive on time so you don’t miss the 12:00 start.
